Fellsfjara pattern is a traditional Icelandic Wool sweater style I’m calling Fellsfjara (Lopapeysa). This pattern is inspired by the beautiful Diamond beach in Iceland, or Fallsfjara beach. Where the icebergs from the nearby glacier wash up to the black beach. It’s such a beautiful place and I wanted to try and make a pattern inspired by this beautiful place! 

  

Yarn: Icewear Garn Saga wool - 50g skein - 100m  

Color A 1000 XXS(5) XS(6), S(6), M(7), L(8), XL(9), XXL(10), 3XL(11), 4XL(12) 5XL(12)  

Color B 0101 XXS (1) XS(2), S(2), M(2), L(3), XL(3), XXL(3), 3XL(3), 4XL(3), 5XL(3)  

Color C 4119 XXS(1) XS(1), S(1), M(2), L(2), XL(2), XXL(2), 3XL(2), 4XL(2), 5XL(2)  

 

Needles 

Circular needles: 4mm and 5mm, 40 and 60/80 cm (depending on your size)  

Double-pointed needles: 4mm and 5mm  

 

Tension gauge  

10x10cm = 18 sts and 26 rows on 5mm needles. Note that the pattern is knitted in the round, so it‘s good to knit the swatch in the round as well.

Method  

This sweater is knitted from the bottom up. Both the body and sleeves are knitted in the round. After finishing the body and sleeves, everything is joined together to knit the colorwork yoke. When following the yoke design chart, take care to read the notes as the design changes slightly depending on the size you’re knitting. Beginning of the round is between the left sleeve and back body stitches.
