Lóa is a beautiful sweater and fun to knit. The pattern is written in two ways; to knit the sweater the old Icelandic wool sweater style (bottom up) and to knit the sweater top down.  

 

Sizes    XS  S  M  L  XL  XXL 

Bust circumference: 35-36.¾ -38.½ -42.¼ -43.¾ -47.¼  in (89-93-98-107-111-120 cm) 

Womens body length to underarm: 15.¼ -15.¾ -16.¼ -16.½ -17-17.¼  in (39-40-41-42-43-44 cm) 

Womens sleeve length to underarm: 18-18.¼ -18.½ -19-19.¼ -19.¾  in (45-46-47-48-49-50 cm) 

Mens body length to underarm: 18.½ -19-19.¼ -19.¾ -20-20.½  in (47-48-49-50-51-52 cm) 

Mens sleeve length to underarm: 19.¼ -19.¾ -20-20.½ -21-21.¼ in (49-50-51-52-53-54 cm)

Saga wool from Icewear, 100% wool, 50g (100 m/ 109 yd)

Needles 

US 7 (4.5 mm) and US 8 (5 mm), 40 and 80 cm circular needles 

US 7 (4.5 mm) and US 8 (5 mm) double pointed needles 

 

Gauge 

4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm) = 18 sts and 24 rounds in stockinette stitch on needles US 8 (5 mm). 

It is important to have the right gauge to determine the given size. Adjust needle size to match gauge. 

 

Directions 

The sweater is knitted in the round with stockinette stitch and stranded knitting on the yoke and at the bottom of the body and sleeves. The ribbings at the bottom of the body, sleeves and the collar are knitted; k 1 st, p 1 st, repeat.
